Remember

There are animals we at Real Rescue have met and loved thru the years who are no longer with us,  and we miss them.  They live forever in our hearts, and this page is for remembering them with love… until we meet again.  Real Rescue has always been one of the few rescues that will take the elderly abandoned animals to provide them love and care through the end of their days here.  When nothing can be done medically for one of our loves and it seems that they are ready to go, our vet gently and lovingly euthanizes them while we hold them.  We call them the “ancients” with love and always feel privileged to have known them at the end of their sweet lives.  To them we say, thank you for being part of our lives.  We love you.

May 7, 2010 Little Tootie, with her chewy and her giraffe.  Little Tootie, another one of those “great” dogs in a little package. loved till the end….  She went very peacefully and quietly, a real trooper till the very end, who, I’m sure, snarled her way over the Rainbow Bridge….

12/11/09 Tazzy, a beloved animal companion of one of our closest friends, Max, died last night. Max says, for “14 years I was blessed to have him as my bedpartner. I wish everyone could know such a perfect love. You could see God in his eyes and love in his soul.” Tazzy had heart failure, and his human friend was there for him until the end. Tazzy finally died of heart failure last night in his best friend’s loving arms. Chris says, Max “has been a steady emotional support, willing board member, and financial supporter of the Rescue ever since we have known each other. One could not have a more loyal friend.” And I know Max, Tazzy’s human companion, would say the same about his loving four legged friend and companion. Rest in peace, Tazzy. You are so loved.

Mango was a beautiful cat. Died after an illness, and would not respond to treatment.
Mango was rescued with some weird skin condition that had made him lose all his hair.  After months of treatment he grew the most beautiful coat and was truly a beauty to behold with his sky blue eyes.  He would sit in the sun in his window and pose like a star.  He was, we believe, injured by another cat and internal injuries that took his life.  He was one of ours and he was loved.

Snap was another sad tail. He was adopted, then went missing, and was never found.
Snap was placed with a family who did not realize what a true escape artist he could be.  So his first night there, he broke out of the yard in south Okla City.  It’s been several year, but we still hold out hope that maybe he’ll turn up.  He was very shy and a bit “snappy” when frightened (hence his name).  There is still a reward for his return.  We hope he found some kind people along the way to give him another home.

Phillip was a great old pitt that Chris rescued at a Phillips 66 gas station about 5 yrs ago when we were looking for another dog. Phillip was elderly when we rescued him, skin and bones and covered with mange. He looked like he had lived on the streets his whole life. We are grateful we could provide him with a loving home for his last years. He was so appreciative of being in a warm room during the last couple of winters and in a cool room this summer. He was quite a fellow with a great personality. He was not able to overcome kidney failure in spite of excellent medical care. He finally knew love, care, good food and fun play outside on pretty days, so his story is a complete success. He was never adopted but he was "one of ours" and deeply loved. He was gently euthanized in his room on his favorite blanket surrounded by those he loved and who loved him. We will miss him. He went to the rainbow bridge Sept. 21, 2009.
